Between Music & Theatre: FortVio Piano Trio

Music Niagara proudly welcomes the acclaimed piano trio FortVio for their Music Niagara debut, celebrating their 20th anniversary season with a captivating and imaginative program.
Comprised of Indrė Baikštytė (piano), Ingrida Rupaitė (violin), and Povilas Jacunskas (cello), FortVio has earned international recognition for their vivid, expressive performances and distinctive artistic voice. Laureates of the Government’s Culture and Art Award of the Republic of Lithuania, the trio is celebrated for its ability to blend technical brilliance with spontaneity, depth, and a uniquely theatrical sense of storytelling.
Their program, “Between Music and Theatre,” explores the fascinating intersection of music and the dramatic arts—featuring works inspired by theatre, film, and visual art. The evening will include a rich and engaging selection of repertoire by Haydn, Schubert, Rebecca Clarke, Astor Piazzolla, alongside compelling works by Faustas Latenas, and other Lithuanian composers, creating a dynamic journey across styles, eras, and artistic influences.
Since their formation in 2006, FortVio has quickly risen to international prominence, winning top prizes at major competitions including the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria and the Stasys Vainiūnas Competition in Lithuania. They have performed extensively across Europe and beyond, and are members of the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA).
Described as “an ensemble like a theatre group gathered under mysterious laws of nature,” FortVio brings an engaging, almost cinematic quality to their performances—where music unfolds with drama, colour, and emotional intensity.
